Ingredients
-
4 cl of vodka
-
10 cl of fresh grapefruit juice
-
3 grams of salt
Directions
One of the first cocktails that you want to prepare with the arrival of the autumn is the Salty Dog: a super sharp and titillating drink, perfect as an aperitif and an all-day cocktail.
The Salty Dog recipe is disarmingly simple, no need to be a shaker master: grapefruit juice, vodka and a little bit of salt on the edge of the glass. Salt and grapefruit together can give an immediate and sidereal sense of freshness, especially during the summer!
The history of the Salty Dog is nothing to die for: it derives from the Greyhound cocktail, an elementary drink made with vodka and grapefruit juice.
If you want you can also replace it with tequila for a more aromatic and pungent cocktail, as long as you like the fermented juice of agave, but in synergy with salt and grapefruit it becomes a bomb! But let’s go to the Salty Dog recipe.
Ingredients and doses for making the Salty Dog cocktail
- 4 cl of vodka
- 10 cl of fresh grapefruit juice
- 3 grams of salt
How to make the Salty Dog cocktail
Squeeze a grapefruit and strain the juice.
Then we are going to make a salt crusta. Take an old-fashioned glass or a Martini cup and wipe the edge with a slice of grapefruit to wet it.
Spread some salt on a plate, turn the glass over and rotate it to make the salt adhere to the edge.
Shake the glass to remove any excess.
Pour the vodka and juice into a shaker, shake with joy for 15 seconds.
Put some cubes in the old fashioned and pour the cocktail filtering with the strainer.
Decorate with a slice of grapefruit and maybe a leaf of mint or rosemary or marjoram.
