The Vodkatron cocktail is a drink to which we have dedicated a lot of time, sweat, and hours of experimentation, but in the end, we are proud of the result. In all likelihood, it is one of those that have succeeded best over the past few years.

It is an aperitif cocktail, fresh, intense, sharp, but overall smooth. It is a thirst-quenching and fragrant drink, but one of those that do not knead your mouth with easy sweetness and sugar.

The ingredients of the Vodkatron cocktail: vodka, ginger, cardamom and Prosecco syrup, orange juice, and a minty bitter. Nothing difficult to do: prepare the syrup in advance, and you will work faster.

Ingredients and doses for making the Vodkatron cocktail

  • 4 cl of vodka
  • 4 cl of orange juice
  • 1 cl Prosecco syrup and cardamom
  • 1 cl of bitter
  • 2 grams of ginger

How to make the Vodkatron cocktail

Squeeze half an orange, strain the juice, and place it in the shaker with ginger and vodka. Mash the ginger with the pestle, then add the Prosecco and cardamom syrup, the bitter, and the ice, and stir. Pour, filtering, into a chilled glass and serve.

How to make Prosecco and cardamom syrup

It is true: the world of prosecco is too vast, and the general quality is shallow, but not all prosecco wine is to be thrown away. Its qualities are simplicity and immediacy, and if you buy an excellent prosecco, you will notice that there are plenty of floral and fruity aromas. If you want to make a good syrup, don’t use a super cheap prosecco, it would be counterproductive.

Ok, the preparation is straightforward: remember that, being a syrup, for every 200 grams of sugar, you need 100 grams of liquid—weight 50 grams of water and 50 grams of prosecco to avoid mistakes. Pour the sugar into a saucepan, add water, 10 grams of crushed cardamom pods, and prosecco, and then cook on a low flame until the sugar has melted. When the syrup is ready, pour into an airtight container and throw in 10 grams of crushed cardamom pods, stir and seal.

Cardamom is so aromatic that leaving it too infused is unnecessary; 24 hours are more than sufficient. After that, filter the syrup and bottle it. Keep it in the fridge and consume it in a week.
