Directions
Once you have tried the real pomegranate juice, you won’t go back to the industrial juices full of sugar. Of course, you have to be careful to buy ripe fruits and to shell seeds so that the white tannic and unpleasant part is not squeezed, then you can make real elixirs, not cocktails.
And today’s cocktail starts with pomegranate juice, to which we have added a splash of passion fruit syrup, gin, perfect with its spicy and resinous scents and finally a hint of vanilla, just cover the cocktail with an aromatic and frivolous touch.
The result is a super aromatic and smooth aperitif, thanks to the delicate harmony that holds all the ingredients together: the drink is light on alcohol, very fragrant, fruity, but with the pungent call of gin in the background that gives liveliness to the drink. Delicate, but not soft.
We called it cocktail Eris, the nemesis of Eros, the goddess of discord who gave rise to the dispute between Aphrodite, Hera, and Athena, culminating with the rape of Elena and the consequent Trojan war.
This is just to say that, although it is a light cocktail, it’s always good to drink with moderation: you never know what could happen.
Ingredients and doses for making the Eris cocktail
- 4 cl of gin
- 3 cl of pomegranate juice
- 1/4 of a teaspoon of vanilla
- 1 passion fruit
- 1 cl of triple sec
- 3-4 mint leaves
How to make Eris cocktail
If you want to make a great cocktail, you have to shell the pomegranates and not squeeze them like oranges, the white part is tannic like hell.
Once you have shelled the fruits, pound them with the muddler and then strain.
Cut the passion fruit in half and keep half of it for the final decoration.
With a spoon extract the pulp put in a glass, add the same amount of sugar syrup and blend per 30 seconds, then strain.
Prepare an old fashioned glass, fill it with crushed ice.
Put a few cubes in a shaker, pour in pomegranate juice, passion fruit syrup, gin, some vanilla, triple sec and the mint.
Shake for 10 seconds, then pour into the glass.
Decorate with half passion fruit, a sprig of mint and a sprinkling of vanilla.
The triple sec is used as a sweetener, if you do not like it use simple sugar syrup.
The recipe is very simple, but to make a wonderful aperitif worthy of your lips, it will take a lot of time and a lot of elbow grease. Every pomegranate bean is precious, but once you’ve tried the Eris cocktail, it will change your life! Enjoy!
