The Cocco Bello cocktail is a thirst-quenching, light, and tremendously aromatic long drink made with few ingredients, but when mixed together they become pure intoxication poetry.

The Cocco Bello cocktail is a classic aperitif to be enjoyed on the beach at sunset. But beware, the preparation of the Cocco Bello cocktail is quite demanding: you need a saw and then chisel and hammer to sculpt al stonemasons the edge. As you can see from the photos, for our Naked Nick it’s a no-brainer, but it’s not that simple!

Be careful not to mutilate yourself or spill the coconut nectar and be sure to use fresh coconuts for this aperitif. Otherwise, you will find little coconut water inside: and it would be a shame, with what they cost!

Well, let’s move on to the ingredients of the Cocco Bello cocktail: coconut water, elderberry, mint, creole bitters and then you would expect the usual rum. Of course, coconut and rum are a great match, but a little predictable. So we played with spirits and there are two possibilities.

The first, the freshest, youngest and most rampant, sees the use of tequila. In this way, the Cocco Bello is very fragrant, sharp, lysergic and bombastic, but perhaps more difficult as an aperitif.

The second recipe for the Cocco Bello includes Brandy and here is where the magic happens. The warmth and softness of the brandy are fabulous for the synergies they create with coconut water. The drink is sweeter, soft and enveloping.

It depends on your mood, the occasion and the time, but it is worth trying both.

And now, take a saw and let’s get to work!
