The Carrie cocktail is a tribute to the legendary novel by Stephen King, the undisputed master of existential distress, not exactly of horror, since all the monsters that actually portray us are our deepest self.

But let us leave aside the literary ramblings and go back to our Carrie cocktail, which is proposed as an aperitif drink, thanks to a medium alcohol grade, abundant aromas and a fresh and spicy flavor with an appealing touch.

The ingredients of the Carrie cocktail are aged grappa, limoncello, curry, paprika, orange juice, agave syrup and a leaf of lemongrass, perfect to add an aromatic touch.

If you are looking for a spicy, lively, but not too demanding aperitif, try the Carrie cocktail. It will reward you with a very concrete and seductive flavor.

Ingredients and doses for making the Carrie cocktail

  • 4 cl of aged grappa
  • 1 cl of Limoncello
  • a pinch of curry, masala
  • 1 lemongrass leaf
  • 2 cl of orange juice
  • 1 cl of agave syrup
  • dehydrated mint and orange to decorate

How to make the Carrie cocktail

The preparation is very simple, no particular circus skills are needed.

Squeeze the orange and strain.

Pour grappa, limoncello and orange juice into a shaker, add the lemongrass leaf and pound the lemongrass with the pestle 4-5 times, fill with ice, sprinkle with curry powder and then stir gently for 10 seconds.

Prepare a glass, filling it with crushed ice, pour the cocktail by filtering, then finish with the decoration: a sprig of mint and a slice of dried orange and a sprinkle of paprika. Add some more crushed ice and serve.

If you want an even more aromatic and spicy cocktail, make a crusta with paprika and lime, wetting the first half the edge of the glass with a bit of lime and then sprinkling with paprika.

Other great cocktails to try as an aperitif

Negroni, Mojito, Moscow Mule, Gin & Tonic, Dark and Stormy, Daiquiri, Margarita, Spritz, Hugo, Old Fashioned, Manhattan.
