El Pocholito is a new cocktail that we have created to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. The cocktail is based on tequila, a kind of Bloody Mary but much more aromatic and crispy.
We did not focus much on spiciness itself, for that there is already the Bloody Maria cocktail, but rather on the aromatic suggestions created by the marriage among cucumber, fennel, and orange juice.
If you want a less lysergic drink, you can use vodka too, though doing so the cocktail becomes less vivid.
Let’s take a look at the Pocholito’s ingredients: tomato juice, tequila, 2 cucumber slices, fennel seeds, 2 drops of bitter and orange juice.
The salted rim is essential: salt, lemon peel and a sprinkling of pepper. If you want to do it super deliciously, add a basil leaf to smudge.
Okay, are you ready to celebrate Cinco de Mayo?

- 4 cl tequila
- 3 slices of cucumber
- 1 teaspoon of fennel seeds
- 7 cl of tomato juice
- 2 cl of orange juice

How to make the Pocholito cocktail
First the salted rim: wash and peel the lemon, 4 cm is enough.
Chop finely 1 basil leaf and lemon peel, then add 2 tablespoons of salt and a sprinkle of pepper.
Put this mixture in a small dish. Rub the edge of a glass with a lemon wedge, then dip the glass in the salt and push with your fingers to coat with the mixture, then remove the excess.
Now, about the cocktail itself. Squeeze half of an orange and strain.
Wash the cucumber, cut it and put 2-3 slices into a shaker, add tequila, fennel seeds, orange juice, 1 basil leaf, tomato juice, and muddle gently.
Add some ice, seasoned with salt, pepper and a pinch of chili and stir to cool the cocktail.
Pour into the salted rim glass and serve your new tequila cocktail.
