Directions
The Basito is a great cocktail. Why?? You are probably wondering now… Isn’t it a Mojito with basil instead of mint? Isn’t one of the many summer cocktail, the classic highball to take with you in the plastic glass?
Yes, but not only. If well done, Basito, and especially if you prepare it with ginger ale in the place of normal soda, is an incredible supernova of pungent and refreshing scents that intrigue the nose and leave your mouth full of flavors, but clean, ready for the next sip.
Certainly, Mojito is the perfect cocktail for its balance between sweetness and minty freshness, but do not underestimate the power of Basito, which is more multifaceted as taste and has the charm given by the essential oils that have made basil the king of the Genovese cuisine. If you can find some fresh original Genoese basil even better!
Ingredients for the Basito cocktail
- 4 basil leaves
- 2 teaspoons of brown sugar
- 1/2 lime cut into wedges
- 4 cl white rum
- 1 cl of ginger ale or tonic water or soda
How to prepare the Basito cocktail
Wash and cut the lime into wedges, put it in a tumbler with sugar and basil leaves and then pound to combine the ingredients.
Unlike Mojito, which must be gently pounded, you can beat the hell out of Basito without mercy! Fill with crushed ice, add white rum, fill with ginger ale and the cocktail is ready to go!
Variants
For a more aromatic and intense cocktail, put basil leaves, lime juice and sugar in a blender, add a little water if necessary and blend. Then pour in a cup and fill with rum and ginger ale.
