Ingredients
-
6 cl of white rum
-
6 cl of pineapple juice
-
1 cl of Maraschino liqueur
-
1 cl of grenadine
-
3 tablespoons of egg white
Directions
The Mary Pickford cocktail is an extraordinary, and very easy-to-make, aperitif, based on white rum, pineapple juice, maraschino and grenadine. Put all the ingredients in the shaker, shake and serve one of the most incredible drinks you can drink, thanks to the heavenly combination that is created between the warm and enveloping flavors of rum and the tropical charm of pineapple.
By the way, have you ever noticed that in the most sumptuous cocktails there is always pineapple? Think of the Pina Colada, the Painkiller, the French Martini, the Scorpion, the Barracuda, the Queen’s and of course the Singapore Sling. However, apart from the tropical brackets, there is a great dilemma that hovers over the Mary Pickford cocktail: to put the egg white or not to put it?
We personally always add 3 tablespoons, even a little, but the difference is huge: the cocktail is more velvety and also the appearance is tremendously better, thanks to the soft foam that forms on top. In any case, the album does not exist in the original Mary Pickford recipe, so do as you wish.
History of the Mary Pickford cocktail
The drink is dedicated to the legendary actress Gladys Louise Smith, the heroine of cinema, one of the first true actresses, also known as America’s Girlfriend. She and Chaplin founded the independent film studio United Artists, became a producer, a millionaire and even won an Oscar for the film Coquette in 1929. Mary Pickford was her stage name.
Ingredients and doses to make the Mary Pickford cocktail
- 6 dl cl of white rum
- 6 cl of pineapple juice
- 1 cl of maraschino
- 1 cl of grenadine
- optional: egg white, 3 tbsp
How to make the Mary Pickford cocktail
Make the pineapple juice with the extractor. Otherwise, pound 4 pieces of pineapple in the shaker with the muddler and then strain the juice.
Put all the ingredients in the shaker with ice and then pour into a cup and decorate with a maraschino cherry and pineapple.
If you want to add the egg white, put all the ingredients in the shaker without ice, shake for 1 minute, then add a little ice, shake quickly to cool and pour into a cup, filtering with a sieve to make the foam softer.
