Directions
The Adonis cocktail is one of the old glories, an old-style aperitif from 1900, sweet, warm, herbaceous and with an elegant charm. It’s excellent as an aperitif due to its not too high alcohol content and innate elegance, but also interesting for brunches and late-night parties.
And what better time to drink an Adonis than on Valentine’s Day? As the name suggests, the Adonis is the cocktail of Love, it is irresistible.
The Adonis cocktail is one of the few drinks made without distillates, there is only Sherry (a fortified wine) and vermouth and a drop of orange bitter.
The result is a very intense and aromatic cocktail, perhaps a little decadent by today’s standards, but it deserves to be tasted at least once.

How to make the Adonis cocktail
The recipe is very simple and you don’t need a shaker.
Fill a mixing glass with ice, pour vermouth and sherry, flavor with a tear of orange bitter, stir gently then pour into a cold cup.
Squeeze an orange peel over it and, if you like, drop a maraschino cherry into it.
