Gin Nordés Atlantic Galician review and tasting notes
The Gin Nordés Atlantic Galician is a subtle distillate, played on a delicate balance between fresh tones reminiscent of sea salt, wild herbs and a couple of spices such as the classic cardamom.
We had been looking for it for a while, but to tell the truth, now that we have tasted it, it has left a bit of a bitter taste in our mouth, and not just because one of its main botanicals is quinine. But because very simply it is a gin that was clearly born to make Gin Tonic … Oh well, that is a tragedy … In reality it is not a tragedy, but this delicacy, this light titillation of the palate, but without ever reaching a real embrace , leave disappointed. Okay, Gin Tonic has now become a world drug, but a little more personality wouldn’t have hurt.
Not that it is bad, indeed it is a graceful gin, designed to perfection to intrigue, but if we are to be honest we expected a little more, not to mention that it has a cost that is not exactly popular. But the problem is that by now the tonic waters are so pyrotechnic and overbearing, that a gin like this risks being crushed under the bitter, exuberant and glowing charge of the most extroverted tonic.
Oh, mind you, a gin and tonic with a fragrant and enveloping tonic like 1724 and the Gin Nordés Atlantic Galician is greedy, it is hard to resist in this heat …
How is Gin Nordés Atlantic Galician made?
Quite atypical, it comes from the distillation of Albariño and then the botanicals are infused, among which typical Galician ingredients such as: sage, mint, bay leaf, cardamom, quinine, glasswort, ginger, hibiscus and tea stand out.
Bouquet
Clean, ethereal and sharp nose with light aromatic aromas, cardamom and notes of saltiness declined with elegance. Discrete variety, muffled intensity, however it is not trivial. Nothing to say, done with care and precision.
The taste of Gin Nordés Atlantic Galician
If the nose gave us hope, in the mouth it is feeble, certainly soft, but it is not that it has an unforgettable momentum. He does his duty quietly, but don’t ask too much of him. Light structure, slightly salty finish with pepper: it is a pity, you can see that the commitment is there, but it is as if he had been put on a chastity belt. Drunk neat it is discreet.
Cost of Gin Nordés Atlantic Galician
36-38: we are not there, around is better at this price.
