Again grilled chicken wings, but this time I want to offer you a recipe with an oriental flavor. The peculiarity of these chicken wings is that they are glazed with a sweet-spicy ginger sauce and then cooked on the barbecue.
I warn you immediately: it is a dangerous recipe, it is addictive for how good they are and the sugar level is high, so be careful not to overdo it. Let’s say it’s a great recipe for parties or to prepare a fabulous appetizer or finger food, but not every day. But let’s not waste any more time and see how to cook glazed wings with ginger.
Ingredients for making spicy chicken wings glazed with ginger (serves 4)
For the sauce
- 35 grams of cornstarch
- 30 ml of vinegar
- 150 grams of honey
- 4 cl of sherry
- 10 grams of peeled and chopped ginger
- 1 clove of garlic
- 5 grams of chili powder
- 20 ml of soy sauce
- 10 ml of chili and garlic sauce, if you can’t find it, add a little garlic and regular chili pepper
- 6 cl of lemon juice
- 24 fins
- 10 grams of salt and pepper
How to make ginger glazed grilled chicken wings
In a small saucepan, mix the vinegar with the cornstarch, mix well until it dissolves. Put on the heat, add the other ingredients, and bring to a boil. Let it simmer and turn off only when it has become thick.
Wash the fins under cold water and cut the final part with a pair of sharp scissors.
Dry the wings and season with salt and pepper.
Prepare the barbecue and cook the fins. Either indirect or direct heat is fine. We won’t add any seasoning, so you decide. I prefer indirect cooking. It gives me more time to do other things or cook different dishes on the barbecue.
In indirect cooking, cook for 30-35 minutes, turning the wings once.
If you want to bake the chicken wings in the oven, place them in the preheated oven at a temperature of 140 degrees for 30-35 minutes.
When the wings are cooked, remove them from the grill and place them in a large bowl. Pour in the ginger sauce, season well and serve immediately.
