Directions
Papa was the nickname that Cubans used to call the writer Ernest Hemingway, a fervent and thirsty admirer of fermented sugar cane juice (rum).
The Papa Doble is nothing more than a Daiquiri in which the sugar is replaced with grapefruit juice and maraschino, the famous liquor distilled from cherries. People also refer to it as the Daiquiri Hemingway Special or Hemingway cocktail.
The result is a more loaded and aggressive cocktail, inebriating, fresh, and slender, but with a very high alcohol content, even if camouflaged by the sweetness of the maraschino and the freshness provided by the grapefruit.
The Hemingway Daiquiri is an ideal cocktail for any occasion, both in the summer to quench your thirst in style and in the winter to recall the warmth of Caribbean beaches.
