Spirits review: J. M Vieux V.S.O.P rum characteristics and tasting of a delicious agricultural rum from Martinique
We are starting from the end, spoiler alert: the J. M Vieux V.S.O.P rum is a great agricultural rum.
A fine bottle of agricultural rum that comes from endless and loving care, starting from the sugar cane, grown on volcanic soils that make it unique.
After the harvest, the sugar cane is crushed, juice is collected and left to ferment, then with a double distillation the magic is done.
The barrel aging is particular, an act of love: at least 4 years in casks and then you can bottle the rum, the procedure used for Cognac, and this means that the quality is always very high.
Every detail is followed step by step to create this rum, which we have not yet mentioned, was born in the north of Martinique, French soil, on the slopes of Mount Pelée.
But let’s get to the tasting of J. M. Vieux V.S.O.P rum: the bouquet is wide, with impressive alternation of nuts, dates, returns of vanilla, tropical fruit that looks caramelized and final coffee gusts.

Back on your nose you can constantly “feel” a roasted, but always pleasant, recall.
