2019 Casadei Armonia Review And Tasting Notes
2019 Casadei Armonia is the classic Maremma blend of Syrah and Merlot, soft, peppery, and smooth. Other vines contribute to the blend, including the smoky touch of Cabernet, but we cannot know them since it is an IGT and therefore cannot be put on the label.
Apart from that, the matrix of this wine is quite clear. It wants to be as drinkable and meek as possible. And it succeeds very well: you can serve this wine at any table and be sure that the bottle will run out. Maybe no one will remember this wine because it was not born to amaze but to accompany a carnivorous lunch.
How is it produced?
Even the vineyard and the cellar choices make us understand that it is a wine that focuses entirely on freshness. The harvest takes place on the first days of September to have freshness and pungent aroma in the grapes. It ferments and macerates in steel and then ages for 12 months in third and fourth passage barriques.
Organoleptic characteristics
The result is a pleasant and casual wine with a slender, fragrant, and never too substantial step.
The bouquet is set on fragrant and delicate notes of small berries, cinchona, oregano, and fresh flowers. Discreet variety does not fall into stereotypes. Pepper and pepper in the background; the green notes are well managed despite the early harvest.
It flows sharp, thin, thin, but not lean on the palate, even if the structure is very light. The extract is sufficient to give substance and credibility to the sip.
Peppery finish with returns of earthy flavors. Overall it is a sunny and well-designed wine. It is not a fruity bomb. It is not jelly. On the contrary, it proceeds on an austere and clean register, without many frills.
Price
17-19 euros: an acceptable price for a biodynamic wine that does not overwhelm your senses and can accompany a peppered Tuscan meat-based lunch without problems. Easy to approach, frank, but without the spark.
Food Pairings
Tacos, black truffle risotto, passatelli with Parmigiano fondue and truffle, bucatini all’amatriciana, roast beef, hamburger.
