Taming the Flames: Milziade Antano’s Grechetto 2019 – The Perfect White Wine for Spicy Food!

You know those white wines that you order by accident, consume, and then forget about?

The Milziade Antano’s Grechetto 2019 is one of these.

It’s the classic wine that keeps you company for a meal and then ends there. Not that it’s anything wrong; after all, the cost is also very low, and for 10 euros, you can’t ask for the moon; nevertheless, it’s not that it has left its mark.

Beautiful perfumes, it invites you with a sumptuous floral outfit, but then in the mouth it is too tame and does not have much drive, neither acidic nor sapid.

As mentioned, we are not complaining; there are no flaws, and everything is in order and well combed. But it only stops at the homework.

However, there is a case in which this docility can be very useful, and that is if you have to combine a wine with spicy food.

Keep this in mind if you want to accompany a simple, soft, and clean white with spicy Thai dishes, gumbo, or fish appetizers. Thanks to the round fruit, it will be able to help you tame the flames.

How it is produced

The Grechetto grapes are harvested by hand and then pressed. The must ferments thanks to spontaneous yeasts and then ages in steel. The vines are grown organically and are between 15 and 35 years old.

Organoleptic characteristics

The bouquet is a classic from Pignoletto Pimp that is all played in floral tones and is very fragrant. Lily of the valley and wisteria as if it were raining, delicate fruit, citrus, and mango No escape, a classic.

On the palate, it is very delicate, too soft; it moves sinuously and does not show great character. The depth isn’t great, but overall, it’s enjoyable. A little evanescent, however, it is only a defect of lightness; on a technical level, there are no problems.

After tasting so many unique Grechetto wines, it’s a little hard to go back to this type of boring wine that’s good for all occasions but maybe none. It doesn’t find much development; it enjoys its own aromatic image reflected in a greenish-yellow mirror, but it doesn’t dare to go deeper.
