In autumn the oranges finally return in our aperitifs, with their incredibly fresh and aromatic flavor. And for this reason, we invented a new cocktail based on tarocco oranges, to which we will add aged grappa, anise, cinnamon, coconut water and a splash of bitter.
The Tarocco cocktail recipe is very simple and even the ingredients are easy to find do you don’t have to go to milk the silky goats of the Everest Mountain or to steal the golden apples of the Garden of the Hesperides to get some fancy ingredients. I recommend using only fresh orange juice and avoid industrial juices full of sugars. Sicilian red Tarocco oranges are national treasures, maybe they are not zero kilometers, but they are real jewels.
The alcohol content of the Tarocco cocktail is light and also the flavor is delicate, on the palate. It runs sharp but never overpowering, so it is an excellent drink to take as a light, titillating aperitif.
Ingredients and doses for making the Tarocco cocktail
- 4 cl of aged grappa
- 1 gram of anise powder
- 1 gram of cinnamon
- 1 cl of sugar syrup
- 4 cl of juice of 1 orange tarocco and a piece of peel
- 1 cl of coconut water
- 1 cl of bitters
How to make the Tarocco cocktail
Squeeze orange and strain the juice.
Put all the ingredients in a shaker full of ice, shake for a few seconds and pour into a well-frozen, old-fashioned glass filled with ice. Take the orange peel between your fingers and squeeze it over the drink.
