Brugal’s Dominican Tribute: A Limited Rum Edition for Connoisseurs
Marking National Rum Day on August 16, Brugal introduced its exclusive Colección Visionaria rum series. This collection shines a light on the Dominican Republic’s native ingredients, with the inaugural variant, Edición 01 Cacao, launching this month.
This rum boasts a unique cask-toasting method. Specially selected Dominican cacao beans are toasted in fresh European oak casks before the rum is introduced.
This innovative technique was envisioned by Brugal’s rum maestro and fifth-generation family member, Jassil Villanueva Quintana.
Recollecting her youth, Villanueva Quintana remarked, “Walking amidst the cacao trees near our home is a fond memory. The vivid cacao landscapes, the distinct smell of the pods, and the intense roasted bean aroma inspired the debut of Colección Visionaria.”
Edición 01 Cacao will debut in four stages, totaling 25,000 bottles available in selected US states. Priced at US$100, it’s presented with a 45% ABV.
Furthermore, the Edrington-owned Brugal will extend its Brugal 1888 rum distribution to Texas. Notably, Edrington recently celebrated surpassing £1 billion in core revenue for the year ending in March 2023.
