Whisky Glen Mhor 10 Year Old Review And Tasting Notes
The Glen Mhor 10 Years is a fabulous distillate, a spirit of crystalline purity. This purebred single malt is a Highland Single Malt bottled in 1970, a shining offspring of the purest Highland malt.
Today, as you know, in the place of the Glen Mhor distillery, there are shops and buildings. It was demolished in the 70s, after being in business since 1892 and creating immortal spirits.
This 10-year-old Glen Mhor whisky is a rock carved in malt, endowed with impressive aromatic cleanliness. There are no exotic spices, caramelized fruit, vanilla, or frivolity: everything is tense, vibrant, and set with elegance in this hard and rocky whisky but never rude.
As you have seen from the label, it was aged for only 10 years in the cask, but the malt was already of excellent quality, and then it was able to rest for 50 years in the bottle—an adequate period to find balance, depth, and concentration.
The bouquet
Exemplary nose for finesse: warm and sharp fruit, biscuit notes and toasted malt, cocoa, coffee, baked quince, herbs and flowers, licorice, and candied oranges in the finish. Excellent variety; everything is whispered with a gentle touch, without forcing.
The flavor
Tense mouth, enveloping on the palate, innervated with flavor and freshness. Herbaceous flavors give structure and thickness. Powerful heat, but mottled with pepper, pepper, and mint sprinkles. Good drinkability; the sip is fiery but well designed.
Price
900-1000 euros. The availability is not highly scarce. It is a bottle of single malt whiskey that you can find, and it is worth buying for both investment and drinking. The cost is not popular, but it still has room for growth. Bought for 850-900 euros, it is an excellent collector’s whiskey.
Food Pairings
Chocolate, salmon terrines, brisket and pulled pork, chocolate salami, apple pie, tiramisu, and creme brùlée.
