Quarticello Ferrando Emilia IGT Lambrusco 2019: A Bottle of Purity and Simplicity
Quarticello Ferrando 2019 is an Emilia IGT, a Lambrusco Salamino refermented in the bottle with unique drinkability, dark and juicy fruit, and great pleasantness.
It is not a demanding, dense wine for aging, and it is not even one of those Lambruscos that tint the glass and have thunderous tannins.
No, this is a tiny, lovely everyday wine, a tantalizing and gluttonous ancient method that goes well with fish, Chinese takeout, or even great Thai dishes like pad thai.
When you don’t know what to drink but you need personality and pulp, try this bottle; it won’t disappoint you. Avoid the grilled beef, and everything will be fine.
How it is produced
The grapes come from the five hectares that the Quarticello company manages in a clean and careful manner, according to a certified organic regime. harvest in September, short maceration, spontaneous fermentation, and second fermentation in the bottle. The ancestral method is done as it once was, but with the precision and care expected of an artisan cellar.
Tasting notes
Color from pomegranate juice. Clean and sharp aromas, very vinous and floral, with an icy fruit that mixes rhubarb, raspberries, and watermelon. Everything is done with simplicity and purity, and there are no frills. The echoes of the yeast frame it.
On the palate, it is fresh and decidedly acidic, but with a light step. The fruity strength emerges and tastes like citrus with a pungent green vein.
Still a raspberry finish All in all, it’s very simple and direct; it doesn’t get lost in frivolity and focuses on a perfect balance between bubbles, fleshiness, and smoothness.
The effervescence is composed, delicate, and adds a gourmand tactile dimension.
Price
15 euros is a fair price to pay for a sparkling wine that is interesting and has a rural but not a rustic charm.
