Pinot Noir Volnay Clos de Chenes Premier Cru 2006 review and tasting notes
The Louis Jadot winery needs no introduction; for years it has been producing wines with an excellent history, preferring finesse and character. The vineyards from which this Pinot Noir comes are in the Cote de Beaune and enjoy excellent exposures, and the poor and mainly calcareous soil makes the conditions ideal for the cultivation of Pinot Noir.
The color
Transparent garnet color.
The bouquet
The bouquet takes shape slowly; it needs a lot of time in the glass. Upon opening, it is earthy and contracted, with warm fruit and cinnamon notes. On opening, it offers a precise range typical of stone, tea, and sour cherries on a truffle background.
The taste
It has a subtle flavor in the mouth, with root flavors that muddle sharp fruit and a still-vibrant freshness. Sapidity and musky return to play in the shade. Silky, dynamic tannins, which give the wine nobility and depth. Already balanced, it is not at its maximum expressive potential, but we are on the right track.
Pairings
An intriguing Pinot Noir to pair with pizza margherita, veal with tuna sauce, chicken curry, ribs with barbecue sauce, baked lasagna, pulled pork, hamburgers, fillet Wellington, and paella
