Glenlivet Whisky Founders Reserve Review And Tasting Notes
The Single Malt Glenlivet Whisky Founders Reserve is a classic Scottish whiskey with soft and graceful tones.
It is not a muscular or particularly peaty whisky, indeed not at all: its main characteristic is the pleasantness of the aromas and the sip.
This bottle was studied to be an honest everyday product in honor of the founder George Smith.
The bouquet
No highs or lows, but clean: grass, hay, toasted hints, alpine grass intertwined with citrus, lightly dusted vanilla, hazelnuts and ripe fruit. Let’s say it has all the features of a discreet, straightforward product.
What does Glenlivet the Glenlivet Whisky Founders Reserve taste like?
In the mouth, it is spicy, warm, relatively soft. It slips away with flavors of caramel that mix with a particular taste. Well-defined spicy finish with mentholated hints. However, it lacks a bit of pulp and nuances.
We don’t want to be negative but don’t expect a thousand-veiled whisky that leaves its mark, as much as a nice bottle, created to please many.
If we compare it with the 12-year-old Glenlivet, it comes out a little harassed and fails to achieve all the complexity and spicy charm of the 12-year-old Scotch single malt.
True, 12 costs 8-10 euros more, but we might as well spend it to have a much more intriguing product.
Price
Twenty-five euros is a reasonable price for a solid whiskey.
Food Pairings
