Chianti Colli Senesi Fattoria del Cerro 2020: A Soft and Simple Sip for Casual Occasions
Chianti Colli Senesi Fattoria del Cerro 2020 is a velvety, easy-flowing wine bordering on bland. It has no particular cues; the Sangiovese is not exalted but worked to be docile, plump, and fresh—just enough to be alive but not sharp.
It’s not a particularly good wine, but it’s a nice bottle to bring to a random dinner, open with a simple dish, or take on a picnic to the Pontelagoscuro river dock.
Mind you, it’s not an evil, bad, faulty, or pernicious wine; it’s just flat and predictable.
It costs a maximum of 9 euros, so it certainly isn’t expensive; however, if we consider the consumption of resources, water, and pesticides that have been used for the production, we can even do without these wines.
How it is produced
Blend of Sangiovese and Merlot, vinification in steel, aging in barrique to sedate the liquid, and then bottling.
Organoleptic characteristics
Purple colour. woody and fruity nose, dark, with flowers and great simplicity of breath. Earthy finish.
On the palate, it is smooth, easy to drink, and soft, but with a final dash of acidity that makes it quite straight. It’s not very deep, but it does what it’s supposed to do, which is not stimulate the taste buds too much.
On average, a statistical virtue.
It has that slightly chubby softness that all newbies like, but you are already tired by the third sip.
Price
9 euros: if that’s your thing, the price is acceptable.
