Bortolomiol Filanda Rosè Brut Millesimato 2020: A Perfect Valentine’s Day Wine – A Lovely Pink Juice
Bortolomiol Filanda Rosè Brut Millesimato 2020 is a reassuring sparkling wine, one of those sedated products that delight the general public. If you uncork it and serve it cold, hardly anyone will despise it; indeed, it will certainly not remain in the glass, yet few will remember it.
It is the classic “drink it and forget it” sparkling wine, with good freshness, a precise bouquet, and an acidic and sharp taste. However, everything is packaged with precision. So can we throw ourselves onto industrial wine made at the table with selected yeasts and zero personality?
Of course not; wines like this sparkling wine, produced with Pinot Noir grapes from Oltrep Pavese in the land of prosecco, will not change our lives.
The speech does not concern the taste, but the sustainability of this wine. And although it is a drinkable product, it adds nothing to the Italian sparkling wine panorama; it does not climb peaks; it does not bring joy; it is not territorial; it has no charisma.
How it is produced
Grapes harvested in the Oltrep Pavese macerate briefly and are then pressed and fermented at a controlled temperature thanks to selected yeasts. Refermentation in an autoclave
Organoleptic characteristics
dark coral color. direct and woody nose with berries and floral hints. The yeasts were encrusted with bread, pastries, custard, and sugared almonds galore.
On the palate, it is acidic and lean; the grit is there, but the gustatory dimension, the three-dimensionality, and the tactile sensation of the wine are missing. It flows and leaves no trace, despite having a good aromatic charge. It would like to say, “Don’t forget me,” but unfortunately the evanescence is immediate and ruthless.
Price
10–11 euros: the price is correct and proportional to the quality and joy that this sparkling wine can give; however, do not expect great depth.
Pairings
Cantonese rice, pad Thai, marinara risotto, carbonara, margherita pizza, and paella
