2013 Mas Zenitude Vent D’Anges Carignan Review And Tasting Notes
The Mas Zenitude Vent D’Anges 2013 is a Carignan of great breadth, a dense and vibrant natural wine in which you can find a thousand aromas, a lot of depth, and splendid balsamic hints. It is a pure Carignano produced with the natural method, in cement, without the addition of sulfites.
Many Erik Gabrielson bottles are time bombs. Sometimes you can smell some faults; as soon as you open the bottle, there is a bit of reduction; the acid vinegar is sometimes a little over the top.
But, it is always a risk that can be taken since you could drink wines of great personality.
It is not a standard pasteurized wine, so put your heart in peace.
How is it produced?
The yield per hectare is ridiculously low, organic management of the vineyards, biodynamic philosophy, and strictly manual harvest. Alberello-trained vines with an average age of 100 years. 25% of the clusters are de-stemmed, maceration for 10 days, spontaneous fermentation in concrete, and eleven months of refinement in concrete. The wine is neither filtered nor clarified, and no sulfites are added.

The bouquet is pure fruit, endless spices, salt, algae, olives, and salty hints with a background of Mediterranean scrub, olives, and thyme. The rhythm is crazy, the depth unique, the tone is mocking, carved in the salt, but of great finesse. Yes, a woolly call is almost animal-like, but it fades into blueberries and is not rude. Deep ethereal tones: lacquer and
On the palate, this Mediterranean fury is conveyed by excellent acidity. A squeeze of tarocco oranges and salt swirls between almost sweet flavors given by the ripening of the fruit.
The sip is dense but mottled; the tannins are already soft but do not think of a classic Sardinia Carignano del Sulcis. It is not so dry and earthy.
This is more marine, fleshy, leaving the door open for a trip in the woods. As the balance is perfect, intriguing evolution launched towards an incredible ethereal charm.
As a wine, it is splendid. It is still vital and rocky, but it will be able to age effortlessly for another 10-15 years.
