Osteria del Vicolo Nuovo in Imola, via Codronchi 6, is one of the historic restaurants in Imola, one of the most famous and solid, a place where you can never go wrong. Ambra and Rosa embarked on this culinary journey back in 1984, and they’ve had a lot of lasagna under the bridge!
We will not tell you (only) that you eat well at the Osteria del Vicolo because it would be an understatement. In this restaurant, it is especially commendable the philological research of the past recipes, the classic ones from Romagna, but which are refreshed by happy intuitions.
It is not a tavern in the strict sense. The place is well-kept, the rooms of the seventeenth-century building are splendid, and the dishes are elegant and titillate imagination, not just the palate. Of course, everything comes from a solid Romagna base. The ingredients are all from the Emilia Romagna area, with an infinite number of Slow Food presidia.
Special attention is dedicated to carefully selecting artisan cheeses and cured meats, served with Romagna piada or delicious “homemade” bread or fried crescentine.

But let’s go back to the dishes. Let’s take the truffle passatelli with Parmesan fondue: an old traditional Romagna dish was embellished with a creamy base and then over the truffle to make the icing on the cake to ennoble the dish. But this dish invented decades ago is still on the menu because it is a dish that made its fortune and helped make the Osteria del Vicolo what it is today: a restaurant where tradition has never stopped evolving.
Other unmissable dishes of the Osteria del Vicolo Nuovo are the octopus salad and the tricolor terrine of vegetables with legumes in crunchy wafers.
Among the first courses, we recommend Tortellini in broth, Tagliatelle with wild porcini mushrooms, Tortelli with goat cheese and pears, Strozzapreti with clams and Adriatic cuttlefish, or Garganelli di Imola with shallots Romagna and pancetta,
Even in the main courses, there are no surprises, including a superb duck with orange or Boneless rabbit roast with Albana di Romagna with cardoons au gratin, pate with truffles, and roasted peanuts.

The wine list is well designed, with excellent wine proposals by the glass and particular attention to the artisanal (natural) wineries of Emilia Romagna and Marche. There is certainly no shortage of spirits such as whiskey, cognac, and a host of delicious sweet wines to pair with desserts.

The prices are fair, considering the high quality of the ingredients. The classic menu costs 29 euros.
