Directions
If you have a sweet tooth, but not much time to devote to the dessert, but still want to offer your guests a memorable dining experience, always remember the coffee mousse.
Why?
First aesthetically is simple, but attractive, soft, immediately invites to pick up the spoon and taste it.
Second: it takes you only 10 minutes to prepare this simple, yet delicious, recipe.
Third: you don’t need special ingredients, it’s hard to not have the ingredients for a coffee mousse in your kitchen, even if you decide at the very last moment.
Fourth: these coffee mousses can be prepared in advance, it’s even better if you manage to make it the day before and let them rest overnight in the refrigerator.
That said, if we haven’t yet convinced you, here is the last straw that will overflow the mousse: you can enrich with a dash of Grand Marnier to add a touch of alcohol and a subtle orange flavor that will make turn the mousses into something special.
Ingredients of the coffee-chocolate boozy mousses
For 8 people
- 400 grams of dark chocolate
- 8 eggs
- 2 small cups of espresso
- 180 grams of powdered sugar
- 24 cl Grand Marnier or Cointreau
- beans and coffee powder to decorate
How to prepare the coffee-chocolate boozy mousses
Let’s start from the dark chocolate, that will be the base of the mousse. Put it in a saucepan with 1 tablespoon of butter, coffee and melt in a double boiler, very slowly, the water must not boil.
Continue to stir and then let the chocolate cool down.
Separate the yolks from the egg whites (do not throw them away!) and whip them with the sugar, you can also use a blender.
Usually, we use powdered sugar to inflate more mousse, but also regular sugar is fine.
When you obtain a nice puffy and fluffy mix, add the melted chocolate, the Grand Marnier too and stir for 3-4 minutes, using a spoon.
Beat the egg whites with a pinch of salt and when they are swollen and firm, add them slowly to the mixture, with a gentle movement from top to bottom.
Pour the coffee-chocolate mousses in individual bowls and let them stand overnight in the refrigerator.
When ready to serve, decorate the mousses with a hint of coffee powder or a few beans.
That’s all, it’s a basic recipe, but you’ll love it!
