Whisky Meets Art: Robert Graham 1874 Unveils ‘Court of Redonda’ Collection
Independent whisky bottler and retailer Robert Graham 1874 has unveiled a unique collection of Scotch whiskies, crafted in collaboration with artist Stephen Chambers.
The Court of Redonda Collection: Imaginary Isles Meet Fine Whiskies
This inaugural series, known as The Court of Redonda, features six distinct expressions from renowned distilleries in Speyside and Lowland: Dailuaine, Benriach, Craigellachie, GlenAllachie, Glen Garioch, and Glenrothes.
The line draws inspiration from Stephen Chambers’ artwork series, The Court of Redonda, which depicts fictional inhabitants of the Caribbean’s uninhabited isle, Redonda. The concept sprang from Chambers’ discussions with late Spanish author and proclaimed King of Redonda, Javier Marias, whose vision included a ‘court’ of creative minds to symbolically govern the island.
Stephen Johnstone and Stephen Chambers: A Creative Synergy
Stephen Johnstone, the owner and managing director of Robert Graham 1874, discovered Chambers’ vibrant artwork years ago, sparking the idea of merging the art of whisky with Chambers’ visual narratives. “The collaboration was a natural fit,” says Johnstone, “marrying the intricate artistry of whisky with Chambers’ expressive works.”
Chambers sees a deep connection between his collection and whisky: “The Court of Redonda celebrates the ‘Everyman’, much like whisky, which is a nuanced, complex, and poetic spirit that mirrors our diverse and intricate selves.”
