The Legacy in the Bottle: Kingsbarns’ Falkland Single Malt—A Whisky Fit for Royalty
From Scotland’s regal history flows Falkland, the latest limited-release single malt from Kingsbarns Distillery in the Lowlands. Named after Falkland Palace, a bygone jewel of the Scottish crown, this whisky isn’t just a drink—it’s a tribute.
Distilled from hyper-local barley—sourced within a mere six-mile radius of the distillery in Fife—Falkland matures under the meticulous eye of Production Director Isabella Wemyss. The casks? A masterstroke combo of ex-bourbon and STR (shaved, toasted, re-charred) ex-Portuguese red wine barrels, imparting a liquid symphony of fruit and subtle spice.
Bottled sans chill filtration at a robust 46% ABV, Falkland follows hot on the heels of another Kingsbarns’ limited edition: Bell Rock Cask Strength, released last September.
Peter Holroyd, the distillery’s manager, cuts to the chase: “Falkland is provenance in a bottle—complex, smooth, and deeply rooted in our local history. Eighty percent ex-bourbon, twenty percent STR ex-Portuguese red wine casks. We’re not just making whisky; we’re continuing a legacy that stretches back to the 12th century.”
After an exclusive debut at Scottish retailer Luvians, Falkland is now within reach. Grab yours at kingsbarnsdistillery.com or select UK and global retailers. Price tag? A cool £50.
