The Dalmore’s Vintage 2005 and 2008: Where Timeless Tradition Meets Liquid Gold
The Dalmore Unleashes Dual Powerhouse Whiskies: Vintage 2005 & 2008
Crafted by Master Whisky Maker Gregg Glass and Master Distiller Richard Paterson OBE, these whiskies rise from an annual cask inspection ritual that’s been alive for over half a century. Done optimally each November, this tradition lets the casks chill after summer’s heat before making their grand debut.
The Dalmore Vintage 2008 emerges from American white oak ex-bourbon casks, but gets its final polish from hand-picked Matusalem and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. Bottled at 45.8% ABV, its profile dances between milk chocolate and caramel aromas, diving into a palate adorned with manuka honey, sweet cacao, and poached apples.
On the flip side, The Dalmore Vintage 2005 soars from the same American white oak foundation, but shines through Matusalem and Vintage 2005 sherry casks. It’s a heavyweight at 49.3% ABV, boasting aromas of dark chocolate and salted caramel. The palate? A full-on experience of rich cacao, blood orange, and marzipan.
Glass couldn’t contain his enthusiasm: “This annual cask ritual is like Christmas in November for us at The Dalmore. Richard and I cherry-pick casks that radiate The Dalmore’s hallmark style. And the crème de la crème becomes our Limited-Edition Vintages. For 2023, we present whiskies that spotlight The Dalmore’s iconic chocolate, orange, and subtle spice signatures. The 2008 is all about poised elegance, while the 2005 offers a palate that you’ll reminisce and relish.”
