Ricky Gervais Ventures into Spirits: Co-Owns Ellers Farm Distillery
Ricky Gervais Joins North Yorkshire’s Ellers Farm Distillery
Famed English comedian and actor Ricky Gervais has recently acquired co-ownership of Ellers Farm Distillery, a spirits producer based in North Yorkshire. His investment, a significant but undisclosed sum, brings him into the heart of a sustainable spirits venture.
Ricky Gervais: Turning Dutch Barn into a Global Phenomenon Gervais, globally recognized as the co-creator and star of the British sitcom “The Office,” is setting his sights on transforming Ellers Farm’s flagship brand, Dutch Barn Orchard Vodka, into an international sensation. His commitment extends to the company’s full range, including gins, liqueurs, and single malt whisky.
Fueled by a desire to back eco-friendly businesses, Gervais remarked, “I’d been looking to invest in eco-friendly businesses for a while, and as soon as I found Dutch Barn, I knew I wanted to be a part of it. I love the planet, and I love a drink, so it’s the perfect match.”
Ellers Farm: A Model of Sustainability Launched in 2021, Ellers Farm has quickly established itself as a model of environmental responsibility. The distillery, located just outside York, has been carbon-neutral since its inception and earned its B Corp certification in September of this year. The company also practices fair pay ratios and operates a generous profit-sharing scheme, allocating 20% of its revenue to its employees.
Chris Fraser’s Vision and AIG Holdings’ Investment Chris Fraser, founder and chairman of Ellers Farm Distillery, expressed his enthusiasm for Gervais’s involvement: “We’re thrilled to have Ricky on board. In a world full of superficial celebrity endorsements, our partnership with him is deeply rooted in mutual values of investment and creative leadership.”
As part of this new chapter, AIG Holdings, a global talent brand incubator, has also invested in Ellers Farm, bolstering the distillery’s growth and innovation capabilities.
