Port Askaig Unveils Liquid Epics: The Reimagined Core Range That’s ‘The Gateway to Islay
Port Askaig, the Islay single malt virtuoso, unveils a reimagined core trio, shaking up the whisky game. The brand’s new mantra, “The Gateway to Islay,” isn’t just a tagline—it’s a mission statement. Elixir Distillers, the puppet masters behind Port Askaig, are pulling all the right strings to amplify the brand’s global resonance.
Fronting the lineup is the Port Askaig 8 Years Old—a reinvented classic with a sonic blend of American oak and bourbon barrels, accented by notes of Pedro Ximénez sherry and refill hogsheads. It’s not just whisky; it’s a narrative in a glass.
Backing up this headliner are two limited acts: the Cask Strength and the 17 Years Old. Cask Strength comes in blistering at 59.4% ABV, aged in first-fill bourbon and American oak. Meanwhile, the 17 Years Old, an annual gig with a 9,000-bottle run, serenades you at 51.8% ABV.
Master Blender Oliver Chilton puts it bluntly: “This isn’t just a relaunch; it’s our tribute to Islay’s iconic landscapes, sea salt air, and the inimitable peat. We’re not just selling bottles; we’re narrating Islay’s untamed story one sip at a time.”
Each offering is an unfiltered, naturally colored anthem to authenticity. Come October, these liquid epics—priced at £49.95 for the 8 Years Old, £64.95 for Cask Strength, and a cool £125 for the 17 Years Old—will hit the global and UK stages.
