Lochlea Distillery’s Fallow Edition: An Autumnal Symphony in a Bottle
Unveiling a symphony of seasons through whisky, Lochlea Distillery rolls out its Fallow Edition, an ode to autumn’s restorative calm. This release is part of their annual quartet, anchored to Ayrshire farm’s cyclical rhythm—Spring’s Sowing, Summer’s Harvest, and Winter’s forthcoming Ploughing Edition.
Matured in a duet of Oloroso (45%) and Pedro Ximénez Sherry (55%) casks, this whisky resonates with sweet and spicy notes—crafted for sipping as autumn’s darkness gathers. Neil McGeoch, the man steering Lochlea’s destiny, underlines the significance: “The Fallow season rejuvenates our land, prepping it for robust barley growth. This whisky isn’t just a drink; it’s a narrative of our sustainable farming saga.”
John Campbell, the maestro of production at Lochlea, adds his own note: “Our Fallow Edition Second Crop is a deliberate blend of Oloroso and PX Sherry butts. Unlike last year’s all-Oloroso affair, this release brings a new flavor cadence—think Manuka honey, golden syrup, and ground coffee, rounded off with candied ginger and a final whisper of crushed almonds.”
Packing a punch at 46% ABV, grab your bottle of Fallow Edition for £51.50 (US$63) starting October 26.
