Laphroaig’s Elements 1.0: Because Their Whiskey Needed More Complexity, Apparently
Laphroaig is unleashing its Elements series, a liquid expedition into the core DNA of this Islay whiskey titan. The inaugural drop, Elements 1.0, takes Laphroaig’s iconic profile and cranks it to 11, blending cloudy and semi-cloudy wort, an 8.5-tonne and an 11-tonne mash, and 100% Islay barley to craft a spirit that’s like Islay in a bottle.
Distillery manager Barry MacAffer put it straight: “Elements isn’t just a bottle; it’s an insider’s look into the alchemy that makes Laphroaig the legend it is. We’re not ditching our roots; we’re just riffing on them, experimenting without losing the essence that makes us Laphroaig.”
As the Elements series evolves, look for hidden ‘easter eggs’ in the packaging, coded clues to the innovation within. Laphroaig Elements 1.0, clocking in at 58.6% ABV, hits the shelves of select whiskey retailers on October 19.
And let’s not forget their eco-move: a packaging redesign in August that aligns with parent company Beam Suntory’s Proof Positive sustainability game plan.
