Dhavall Gandhi’s Kandoblanc: Where Whisky Meets Art in a Revolutionary Blend
Renowned whisky virtuoso Dhavall Gandhi is bringing his game-changing flair to this year’s Distillers One of One charity auction. Unveiling his inaugural whisky from his own audacious venture, Kandoblanc, Gandhi fuses culture, aesthetics, and a killer drink.
The brand name Kandoblanc is an ingenious meld of ‘kando‘—the Japanese jolt of awe when beholding beauty—and ‘blanc,’ the French epitome of purity and brilliance.
For the auction, Gandhi offers Aga, Kandoblanc’s premiere whisky. Named after his son and echoing the term for ‘mountain’ in ancient Indian Ayurvedic scripts, it’s more than a drink—it’s a legacy.
The vessel housing Aga is no slouch either. Imagine Italian battuto glass, indented to mimic hammered metal, meeting the Japanese finesse of kintsugi, where broken ceramics earn new life through gold-infused lacquer.
Inside, what you get is a sensational blend of Highland and Speyside malts, distilled back in ’79 and uncorked for the first time in 2023.
Starting with The Macallan and then pivoting to become the brain behind The Lakes Distillery, Gandhi ditched the ensemble cast in 2022 to go solo. Now, he’s on a quest to shatter norms with his own creative studio, where art and whisky coalesce.
“At Kandoblanc, we’re not just making whisky; we’re crafting singular art pieces with global cultural imprints,” Gandhi states. “Beyond this inaugural masterpiece, expect limited editions and high-voltage collaborations with artists and designers.”
Hosted by the Distillers Charity and Sotheby’s, the 2023 Distillers One of One auction is set for October 5 at Hopetoun House, aiming to raise funds for youth-focused charities in Scotland.
