Buffalo Trace Unleashes Eagle Rare 25: The Bourbon That Defies Age and Redefines Luxury
Buffalo Trace Distillery drops a seismic shock in the bourbon world with the Eagle Rare 25, the brand’s most aged bottle to date.
This isn’t just another bourbon; it’s the inaugural release from Warehouse P, Buffalo Trace’s experimental stage for whiskey maturation. Designed to test the boundaries of aging American whiskey, Warehouse P pushes the envelope for optimal aging conditions.
Master Distiller Harlen Wheatley states, “Eagle Rare 25 shatters the glass ceiling of typical bourbon aging. In Kentucky’s climate, aging whiskey is a double-edged sword: you lose more to evaporation—known as the angel’s share—and the flavors intensify, often making older whiskeys harsh and woody. But Warehouse P’s unique aging conditions have birthed a 25-year-old bourbon that’s in a league of its own—ultra-smooth and packed with mature flavors.”
Wheatley further notes, “Our diligent monitoring of Eagle Rare 25 revealed that its long-term, controlled maturation yielded a whiskey that is simply extraordinary—exceptionally smooth, intricately layered, and aged to perfection.”
To mark its quarter-century milestone, each bottle of Eagle Rare comes in a decanter adorned with a hand-hammered sterling silver wing. Global Brand Director Andrew Duncan notes, “An eagle’s wings symbolize freedom and soaring aspirations globally. For us at Buffalo Trace, it’s a constant reminder to never compromise on our quest for the ideal bourbon.”
Come November 2023, only around 200 750ml bottles will hit select global outlets, bars, and eateries. The asking price? A cool US$10,000 per bottle.
This 25-year-old game-changer joins the Eagle Rare lineup, which also features the Double Eagle Very Rare and Eagle Rare 17 Years Old, annually released as part of the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection.
