Amber Beverage Group Unveils €35 Million Power Move: A Walsh Whiskey Distillery Destined to Reshape Irish Whiskey
Amber Beverage Group is gearing up to drop €35 million on a cutting-edge Walsh Whiskey distillery in Ireland’s Co. Carlow. This beast of a facility will be the stomping ground for iconic brands The Irishman and Writers’ Tears. With an annual output capacity of four million liters, it’s set to be a titan in the Irish whiskey game, specializing in single malt and pot still spirits.
Set on a seven-acre historical site, once a maltings house dating back to the 18th century, the distillery aims to break ground in late 2024. Expected to open its doors in 2026, the distillery is a salute to Ireland’s rich history of brewing and milling.
Bernard Walsh, the brain behind Walsh Whiskey, emphasized the site’s historic role in Ireland’s food and drink production. “This location has always been a hotbed for crafting food and beverages. It’s high time whiskey joined the lineage,” Walsh stated. “We’ll focus on crafting single malt and pot still whiskeys using traditional copper pots.”
Jekaterina Stuge, the CEO of Amber Beverage Group, outlined the grand vision: “This distillery isn’t just an investment; it’s a statement. We’re not just preserving heritage; we’re creating the future of Irish whiskey.”
