Discovering Trento and its great wines

With this trip, we want to suggest not only a classic Trento wine tour but also a six-day travel through the culture of Trentino Alto Adige, an interesting food and art itinerary. You will visit lovely places across the Valley of Non and the Valley of Lakes, among the best valleys of Trentino. Through this journey, you will feel like “hugged” from History.

Our wine and food tour will start obviously from Trento and its historical city, with plenty of monuments, witnesses of a glorious past. Due to its strategic location, close to the border between Austria and Italy, Trento is since longtime a special meeting point, an important cultural crossroads for people and historical events which took place in special times. Nowadays the city offers everything from ancient and different monuments to modern museums and pretty restaurants where you can enjoy tasty local food with mushrooms, canederli, wild and farmed game or delicious freshwater fish.

We intend to visit the Archaeological Site Tridentum, belonging to the Roman age (around 2000 years ago) and the Castle Buonconsiglio, the ancient residence of Prince Bishop of Trento, well kept during the centuries. This magnificent building represents one of the most intense scenes of that age, especially thanks to the original furniture and the wonderful paintings in the “Eagle’s Tower” with the Cycle of the Months.

It’s not all because each little valley hides treasures and during this travel, you will never miss one. The Valley of Non with its magnificent Castle Thun, which rules over the valley with its building framed by the mountains around it.

The Valley of Lakes, famous and well-known for its enchanting waters, grappa and the delicious Vino Santo Trentino. Then the sparkling wine of Ferrari, the creative genius of Trento DOC, the first to understand the potential of these mountains and to produce one of the most appreciated sparkling wines in Italy.

Then we will visit the “Piana Rotaliana” in order to taste the famous Teroldego, “Gold of Tyrol” as it was mentioned once: one of the most complex and fine wines of the Trentino’s tradition. And then our wine tour will go on with an interesting excursion on Monte Bondone, to enjoy the superb view of the Brenta Dolomiti Group, and we will taste carne salada (delicious local meat), Trentingrana and “Puzzone di Moena” (typical local aged cheese) in a comfortable and charming refuge.

Schedule

Day 1

Arrival and accommodation in the reserved rooms. In the afternoon guided tour at Ferrari winery with a wine tasting of the best spumante. Late in the afternoon back to the Hotel, typical dinner and overnight.

Day 2

For today is scheduled a three hours a guided walking tour of Trento. After breakfast sightseeing and a visit to Castle Buonconsiglio. Lunch in typical Trentino’s Inn in the city center. After lunch visit at Tridentum, the famous roman archaeological site; Galleries of Piedicastello and exhibition; then we will taste some sparkling wine of the Trento DOC matched with local sliced salami at Provincial Winery. Afternoon at disposal. Later back to the Hotel, dinner and overnight.

Day 3

After breakfast escorted Tour to Valley of Lakes (visit to the electric power station of S.ta Massenza if available); lunch at Castle Toblino. In the afternoon visit at the Francesco Poli winery to make some wine and grappa tasting paired with some typical salami. Back to the Hotel, dinner and overnight.

Day 4

After breakfast excursion to Monte Bondone. Lunch in typical refuge at 1.600 meters with a lovely panoramic view and scenery on the Brenta Dolomiti Group. Then back to the town and visit to the Social wine cellar of Trento with wine tasting and snack. Dinner and Overnight in the Hotel.

Day 5

After breakfast departure to the Piana Rotaliana to visit the Museum of Folk, Uses and Custom of Trentino People. Then visit and wine tasting with a snack to the Rotari winery in Mezzocorona. Lunch in a typical restaurant with a local menu. In the afternoon visit of Castel Thun, in Valley of Non; late in the afternoon back to the Hotel, dinner and overnight.

Day 6

After breakfast departure for the origin of participants. End of services.
