Ron Cofiño: 18-Year-Old Puerto Rican Rum Masterpiece Makes U.S. Debut
Ron Cofiño, a revered Puerto Rican brand, is marking its entry into the U.S. market with a distinguished 18-year-old expression.
Innovative Ageing Technique
This rum, boasting a 40% ABV, undergoes a unique triple-ageing process, an adaptation of the traditional Spanish solera method. In this system, as barrels are never fully emptied, the new blend fuses with remnants from previous batches. Annually, up to 75% of each barrel’s content is utilized, ensuring a consistently flavorful profile.
Upon first scent, the rum reveals a complex aroma, blending notes of Bourbon, dried fruits, and raisins. On the palate, it’s described as ‘robust and nuanced’, culminating in a ‘toasty and velvety’ aftertaste.
The Ron Cofiño brand, the brainchild of Roberto Echevarría Cofiño, who is also the visionary behind the AT Cofiño cigar brand, was initially launched in Puerto Rico. Now, it’s extending its reach to Florida.
Celebratory Launch Events
Ron Cofiño Aniversario 18 Years is set to make its debut at the prestigious Miami Rum Congress, scheduled for 9-11 February. Furthermore, it will be showcased at the Puerto Rico National Rum Festival on 9 March.
