Matthew and Camila McConaughey Stir Up the Tequila World with Pantalones: A Shot of Unfiltered Fun
Matthew McConaughey, former creative director for Campari Group’s Wild Turkey Bourbon, has pivoted into the Tequila game with Pantalones, a brand co-created with his wife, Camila McConaughey.
The couple, married since 2012, rolled out a high-octane YouTube video where Matthew muses, “When did Tequila stop being Tequila?” Camila fires back, “Right? Where’s the fun?” The video showcases the pair cruising on motorcycles, sipping Margaritas sans pants—fitting, given that “Pantalones” translates to “pants” in Spanish.
Their first encounter? A 2006 Margarita-fueled night at Hyde Club in Los Angeles. Their mission now: to give Tequila the kick it needs. As they succinctly put it, “The world doesn’t need another celebrity Tequila, but Tequila sure could use a kick in the pants. Pantalones Organic Tequila is the best thing we’ve made with our pants on.”
Crafted at Tequilera Tap (NOM 1614), a family-run distillery in Amatitán, Jalisco, Pantalones Tequila embodies notes ranging from honey and citrus in the Blanco to vanilla and butterscotch in the Añejo. Prices: Blanco at US$44.99, Reposado at US$49.99, Añejo at US$54.99.
