Littlemill’s Vanguard Collection: A 45-Year Odyssey in Whisky and Art
Teaming up with iconic British artist Vic Lee, Littlemill Distillery rolls out a 45-year-old whisky, a crown jewel pulled from their most ancient Lowland reserves.
Vic Lee, known for his collaborations with giants like McLaren and Nike, brings his artistry into the whisky world. Through the age-old technique of screen printing, Lee crafts 250 limited-edition cotton paper works of art. These pieces infuse modern flair into the distillery’s original 1773 license, featuring illustrations of Littlemill’s historic stills and warehouses.
Lee expounds: “Working in unison with Michael and the team, our goal was to forge an unparalleled creation that complements each exclusive bottle.”
The artwork weaves in the distillery’s rich history, blending time-honored penmanship and print techniques with my own modern spin.”Distilled on October 11, 1977, in West Dumbartonshire, this whisky underwent a meticulous aging process. Housed initially in refill American Oak, it then matured for five additional years in first-fill oloroso sherry hogsheads, handpicked by Master Blender Michael Henry.
Henry reflects: “Littlemill stands as Scotland’s inaugural licensed distillery, but it’s the untold story afterward that sets it apart. Silent pioneers drove its evolution, leaving indelible marks not just on Littlemill but on the whisky industry at large. These unsung vanguards may have faded into history, but their legacy survives in these last exceptional casks, now under my personal stewardship.”
Bottled at 5.5% cask strength, only 250 individually numbered bottles are up for grabs globally, each with a £12,500 price tag.
