Norwegian spirits brand Bareksten debuts in UK
The Norwegian brand Bareksten Spirits, which was established in 2015 by forager and master distiller Stig Bareksten, is now offered for sale in the United Kingdom through a number of merchants, including Master of Malt and Amazon.
Bareksten Navy Strength Gin, which is now available in the UK, is one of the drinks that has gotten the most praise in recent years. The gin is a component of the super-premium collection of Norwegian handmade spirits that Bareksten Spirits produces. The range also includes absint and aquavit, and it captures the essence of Norway in a bottle while also providing a taste of the dark Norwegian forests to bars and homes in the United Kingdom.
Stig Bareksten, an experienced forager and master distiller, established Bareksten Spirits in 2015. He did this by putting together his knowledge of plants and his interest in the dark, otherworldly forests of his home country, which led to the creation of Bareksten Spirits.
26 Botanicals
Ingredients from the Nordic countries, as well as natural and organic ones, serve as the foundation for the one-of-a-kind flavors. The essence of Bareksten Botanical Gin can be traced back to its production at the Osscraft Distillery in Bergen, Norway.
This gin is made using local herbs, wild berries, and clean Norwegian water. The excellence of the Juniper and the other berries may be attributed to the fact that they are produced using 26 different botanicals, 90 percent of which come from the dense woods of Norway. The premium spirits are made from potatoes, which contributes to their silky smooth texture.
According to Stig Bareksten, the company’s creator, “The United Kingdom is a country of gin aficionados and has one of the most dynamic gin markets in the world.” We know that it’s a mature industry where customers want high-end products with great taste, and that’s exactly what Bareksten offers: unmatched, world-class ingredient quality and delicious taste.
The Assortment of Products
Botanical Gin, Navy Strength Gin, Old Tom Gin, Double Gin, Illsint Absint, and the most popular spirit in Scandinavia, Botanical Aquavit, are all included in this collection of gins and other spirits. In June 2022, a blind tasting competition including 2,500 different spirits from across all categories awarded Bareksten Navy Strength both the title of Spirit of the Year1 and Gin of the Year. The judges’ decision was unanimous.
Bareksten has already been bought by The Savoy and The Ritz, as well as wholesalers Master of Malt, Speciality Drinks, Hammonds, and LWC. Bareksten also has the support of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey, who said, “Bareksten Spirits in Bergen is making a London Dry Gin that any Brit would go crazy for.” Master of Malt, Speciality Drinks, Hammonds, and LWC are among the wholesalers who are interested in Bareksten.
The dark color of the bottle of Bareksten Botanical Gin, which has 46% alcohol, is meant to remind you of the deep, dark forests where most of the botanicals come from.
As a result of Norway’s well-deserved reputation as the source of the highest-quality berries in the world, juniper, lingonberries, elderberries, and blueberries grown there are prized for the complexity of their flavors and aromas. The native chamomile, mint, arnica, and elderflower create a fresh flowery scent, while the plants that were obtained from amid the pine trees add rich dark undertones of the forest floor.
