Luciano Sandrone
Are you ready to hear the tale of Luciano Sandrone, the wine-making maverick whose story begins in the 1970s in his very own garage? This guy is a true legend, committed to producing the finest wine with painstaking attention to detail at every step of the process. And let me tell you, his philosophy has paid off in spades.
Luciano’s first stroke of genius was purchasing a piece of Cannubi Boschis on the hill, widely regarded as the birthplace of Barolo. With this vineyard, he was able to fully express the potential of the Nebbiolo grape, creating a wine of unmatched distinction. As a result, his wines quickly caught the attention of the international wine community, earning high scores from the likes of Robert Parker. In fact, the 1989 Barolo Cannubi Boschis received a whopping 97/100 from Parker himself, and the 1990 vintage received a perfect score of 100/100!
As if that weren’t impressive enough, Luciano continued to push the boundaries of winemaking, introducing new labels like Barolo Le Vigne and Valmaggiore. With 100% Nebbiolo grapes from the Roero region, these wines are made with the same care and attention to quality that Luciano is known for.
But the real kicker came in 2017, when Luciano made the bold decision to rebrand his Barolo Cannubi Boschis as ALESTE. And why, you might ask? As a tribute to his grandchildren, Alessia and Stefano, the future of the Sandrone winery This is a man who not only produces incredible wine but who truly cares about his family and the legacy he will leave behind.
If you’re a wine lover, a visit to the Sandrone winery is an absolute must. Not only will you get to taste some of the finest wines in the world, but you’ll be able to witness firsthand the passion and dedication that go into every bottle. Trust me, this is an experience you won’t soon forget.
