Centanni winery
Leave Pedaso, take the road to Montefiore dell’Aso and start climbing up the hills and after a while, you will arrive in a magical place, a small paradise with a splendid view of the sea. It is one of those delightful villages for which the Marche is famous: all around is peace, the sea is only a few kilometers away and the Sibillini Mountains are only half an hour away by car.
And it is in this setting, on a hill, surrounded by vineyards that you will find the Centanni farm. Giacomo and Elisa carry on the family tradition, with care and a lot of passion, cultivating native vines of the Marche, in an organic regime, respecting the times of nature, without forcing. Attached to the cellar you will also find a farmhouse where you can stay in the middle of the vineyards.
Philosophy of the Centanni winery
Centanni wines are born from passion, from tradition, but above all from what the vineyard manages to express. Good wine is made in the vineyard, with grapes that are healthy and ripe at the right point: there is no escape from this rule and walking through the vineyards, grown organically, you will realize that among these vineyards it is nature that dominates. Of course, the exposure, the choice of vineyards and their soils, the winemaking style, the short pruning and the training system (spurred cordon) are other important factors, but it all starts with a project of territoriality and environmental sensitivity.
Style of wines
There is great intensity, you feel it all as soon as you taste it, however, the wines are not muscular, too voluminous or for their own sake, on the contrary! Montepulciano is a difficult vine to tame, it can escape and become angular, rustic, but that of the Centanni winery is all about elegance and depth. Expect fine wines, very clean and fragrant, impeccable from the point of view of execution, but which know how to tell the story of the land.
What emerges is the typicality, the processing in the cellar is precise, but it does not want to interfere with the original flavors of the vines and Giacomo has succeeded in the difficult task of producing sincere wines, with a soul. Year after year he manages to interpret vintages with ever-different characteristics with sensitivity, given that the climate has now accustomed us to considerable changes and upheavals, even in the quiet and sunny Marche.
Why should you visit the Centanni winery in Montefiore d’Aso?
To immerse yourself in nature and to discover the taste and beauty of the real Marche, a land made of sea and mountains, where green slowly fades into blue. Visit the cellar and then stroll through Montefiore dell’Aso, which still retains medieval buildings of considerable interest.
Rosso di Forca, Rosso Piceno DOC
Ruby color. The nose is broad and elegant, with red fruit in full evidence, pepper and juniper in the background that slowly gives way to notes of cocoa and dried flowers. In the mouth, it is warm, round, with a good character and a sapid length. Always precise in the aromatic development, with powerful but smooth tannins. Tasty, persistent finish: a red cloth to be paired with tagliatelle with meat sauce, vincisgrassi, lamb shish kebab, wild boar pappardelle.
Monte Floris, Marche IGT
A pure Montepulciano with a hypnotic ruby color. The nose has the classic olfactory profile with small red fruits, rhubarb, licorice and after eight, all framed by elegant spicy notes. If the bouquet is sumptuous in the mouth it is equally refined, it moves with a measured step, punctuated by freshness and precise minerality. Powerful and elegant, with powerful and soft tannins. Good balance and excellent aging potential. A red wine to combine with aged cheeses, wild boar shank, venison fillet with blueberries, Pekingese lacquered duck, rib of beef with rosemary.
Pecorino Offida DOC
Straw color. The nose offers intense aromas of citrus, elderberry, wisteria, tropical fruit and delicate hints of aromatic herbs. Everything is declined with elegance. The palate is fine, marked by vertical minerality, full of references, greedy, complex, but always clear in phrasing. Very savory, splendid finish. Balance already achieved. To be paired with sea bass in salt, pumpkin cappellacci, stockfish all’anconetana, amberjack and grapefruit carpaccio, chicken fajitas with beans.
Passerina Offida DOC
Lively straw yellow. The aromatic picture is classic, refined: it starts with a forest of flowers, endless petals and then turns on thyme and plums, boxwood, acacia and pear. In the mouth it is agile and very drinkable, crossed by a very juicy fresh vein that makes the wine perfect for a lunch of fish, pasta with Genoese pesto, pizza with four cheeses, sushi or carbonara di mare.
Il Borgo, Falerio DOC
Falerio is a wine on the rise, which has now crossed the Marche borders, thanks to its qualities of freshness and pleasantness. This blend of Pecorino and Passerina has a lot to give. Vibrant nose with flowers, peach, thyme, laurel and beautiful hints of freshly peeled citrus. In the mouth, it is savory, compact, very drinkable with very pleasant mineral embroideries and an excellent general balance.
Scent of Rose, Marche IGP
Pure cherry. Bouquet set at the finesse with delicate sensations of grapefruit, roses, white pepper, pomegranate and marjoram. In the mouth, it is savory and smooth, very clear in its articulation.
