Ariousios winery
Ariousios Winery is a Greek winery founded in 1998 in Grigoros, on the island of Chios. The two founders are Dimitri and Panagiotis Kefalas, who previously produced the island’s wine exclusively for family use. In 2009, with the renovation of the cellar, the company prepared itself for winemaking and marketing outside of Greece.
Philosophy of the Ariousios winery
The aim of Ariousios is to produce natural wines starting from native vines that are bred with care and passion. The company grows Asyrtico, Chian krasero, Ayiannitis and Athiri, which enjoy the proximity to the Aegean Sea and its beneficial breeze, the wonderful Greek sun, the mild climate, and the heights and exposure of Chios, all factors that help to give pleasant wines full of aromas.
In the cellar we try to intervene as little as possible with spontaneous fermentations, and refinements in stainless steel and tonneaux, which favor the creation of an intense and intact wine, of great purity and essentiality.
Ariousios wines are endowed with a strong personality, and characterized by a notable territoriality. The company produces around 150,000 bottles a year for the markets of the United States, the United Kingdom and Italy, where it entered the Triple A catalogue.
