Best red wine for fish, sushi and fish and chips? Valpolicella DOC Sanperetto 2015 Mazzi!
The Valpolicella DOC Sanperetto 2015 from the Mazzi winery is a delicate, fragrant, red wine with a slender body and excellent freshness: it is the classic red wine to pair with fish and seafood, swordfish skewers and sushi.
The blend is quite typical for this kind of wine: 65% Corvina, 5% Corvinone, 20% Rondinella and 10% MolinaraÈ. The grapes are harvested in late September and are vinified in steel. Then there are 7 days of maceration on the skins, malolactic and aging for 12 months in large oak barrels.
The bouquet of Valpolicella DOC Sanperetto 2015 Mazzi
Clean nose with nice fleshy fruit, well-delineated by cherries, berries, and plums. There is no lack of floral suggestions, hints of rock and a finish with a drizzle of pepper and rose petals. Everything is very well designed, persistence is not bad at all.
What does Valpolicella DOC Sanperetto 2015 Mazzi taste like?
In the mouth, it is surprising for balance and finesse. Light structure, good acidity, silky tannins, and good rhythm. It’s nice to note that there are all the characteristics of Amarone in a nutshell. Finish of almonds and flowers, with good persistence that fades into wild strawberries and licorice. Simple, but well done.
