Travel Retail Exclusive: Chivas Extra 13 Irish Whiskey Cask Unveiled
The renowned blended Scotch label, Chivas, has recently unveiled its first whiskey that incorporates some of the spirit matured in Irish whiskey casks.
The product, named Chivas Extra 13 Irish Whiskey Cask, will exclusively be accessible via international travel retail, starting in July.
A portion of the blend has been matured in Irish whiskey casks, marking a first for the Chivas brand. The alcohol by volume (ABV) content is 40%.
Sandy Hyslop, the Director of Blending at Chivas, expressed: “In light of the success of the previous offerings in the series, we believed it was the right moment to enrich the collection with a new variant that has been selectively matured in Irish whiskey casks.
“At Chivas, our conviction is that a blend is superior, and this belief is perfectly exemplified in the innovative and unique Extra 13 series, which is challenging the conventional norms of Scotch whiskey.”
The tasting notes for the Chivas Extra 13 Irish Whiskey Cask include a hint of spice and fresh red apple aromas, complemented by a honey flavor on the palate. The finish is reportedly smooth and sweet.
Liya Zhang, the Vice President of Marketing at Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail, stated: “We are excited to introduce the new Chivas Extra 13 Irish Whiskey Cask edition, designed exclusively for our global travel retail clientele.
“This innovative blend fuses Scotch tradition with the rich characteristics of Irish whiskey casks, providing customers and collectors with a one-of-a-kind taste sensation.”
Earlier this year, in February, Chivas launched the Ultis XX, a blended Scotch whiskey that includes five distinct single malts, each aged for a minimum of 20 years.
