The Glenfarclas 50 Year Old Whisky has been released
To honor its chairman, John Grant, the family-owned distillery Glenfarclas has released a limited edition single malt Scotch that has been aged for a full half-century.
There are only 836 bottles of the Glenfarclas 50-year-old available, and the suggested retail price for each bottle is £9,000 (or $11,116).
In addition to being the chairman of the company, Grant, who joined the business in 1974, is a member of the family’s fifth generation.
He explained that “at Glenfarclas, we are thrilled to be able to bottle unique, limited edition, single malt whiskies to compliment our superb variety of spirits, which are vital to both our brand and our heritage.”
“This release is especially meaningful to me because it celebrates the fifty years that I have spent working in the industry. The liquid that was aged in the barrel has evolved together with the industry over the course of those fifty years.”
The alcohol by volume of the whisky that is bottled is 50%.
Grant continued by saying, “I am happy about everything we’ve achieved together as a distillery team over the previous 50 years, and I look forward to releasing even more beautiful drams together in the future as Glenfarclas continues to evolve.”
Both the distillery manager, Callum Fraser, and the managing director, Douglas Belford, were involved in the selection process for the drink.
According to Fraser, “The reason I come to work every day is so that I can create goods like Glenfarclas 50-Year-Old.”
“The fact that we were able to create something so extraordinary and that has such a wonderful history behind it is a testament to the passion that goes through all that we do here at Glenfarclas.
“This new whisky is a monument to the craftsman who created the spirit and lay it down in the late 1960s,” says the Grant family, “and to the vision of the Grant family so many years ago.”
This dram, in my opinion, is of the highest quality. “It has an incredible depth of character and showcases every element of the whisky making process,” Fraser continued, “from the earthy smell of the dunnage warehouse all the way through to the light, the natural smokiness of the Speyside peat that was used back then and the distinctive taste of the water we use in the production process.” “It has an incredible depth of character and showcases every element of the whisky making process.”
“I hope the distillery manager in 50 years is as impressed with the quality of the spirit we are laying down for the future as I am,” the speaker said. “We are laying it down for the future right now.”
Both speysidewhisky.com and whiskyshopdufftown.com allow customers from all around the world to make purchases of the bottled product. The bottles come packaged in a box and feature engraved labels.
Marcus Gordon, a bartender based in Aberdeen, was crowned the champion of the Glenfarclas 105 Cask Strength Cocktail Competition in June of the previous calendar year.
