Shaken, Not Stirred: Bonhams Auctions 007-Inspired Macallan and Rare Vintage Malts
Bonhams is set to feature an exclusive Macallan whisky collection celebrating James Bond’s 60th film anniversary in its upcoming online fine wine and spirits auction. The Macallan James Bond 60th Anniversary Release – Decades I-VI consists of six limited-edition bottles, each symbolizing a decade of the iconic British agent’s exploits. Each bottle comes in uniquely designed packaging adorned with original illustrations. The collection’s estimated value ranges from £6,000 to £7,000.
The auction, running from September 11 to 20, boasts an array of rare wines and spirits. Notably, it includes a 50-year-old Macallan from the Red Collection, bottled in 2020 and housed in its original oak and Bridge of Weir-lined case, with an estimated value of £45,000 to £50,000.
The sale also features a 52-year-old Bowmore from 1965, one of 232 bottles aged in a single Oloroso Sherry Cask, presented in its original wooden case (estimated at £22,000 to £28,000). A bottle of 56-year-old Balvenie from 1962 will be available, one of 90 bottles from Cask 5575, complete with its original wooden stand and leather case, valued between £22,000 and £28,000.
Rounding out the auction is one of the oldest single malts ever produced: a 70-year-old Glenlivet from 1940. This first-generation release was bottled in 2010 by Gordon & MacPhail. It’s presented in a hand-blown crystal decanter with a hallmarked silver stopper and stand, all in its original wooden case with a certificate of authenticity. The estimated value is between £14,000 and £18,000.
