Sake Sling: A Fusion of Traditional Japanese Sake and Unique Flavors
The Sake Sling canned cocktails blend traditional Japanese sake from the historic Daimon brewery, which has been in operation for over two centuries, with recipes from renowned late mixologist Wayne Collins. These cocktails expertly meld fruity and botanical flavors with the unique complexity of umami delivered by sake.
The foundational spirit of these cocktails is Japanese sake, created from polished rice, water, yeast, and koji, which is steamed rice that has been inoculated with a mold known as Aspergillus oryzae. This sake is then harmoniously blended with an array of natural flavors such as yuzu, melon, mandarin, and cherry. This combination lends a refreshing aura to the cocktails, without any use of artificial flavors or sweeteners.
In the Mandarin & Cherry cocktail variant, rich cherry and cherry blossom notes are fused with vibrant mandarin, all underscored by the full-bodied Daimon sake with a hint of spicy sushi ginger.
The Yuzu & Melon variant offers sweet undertones of musk melon balanced with yuzu, a citrus element essential to Japanese cuisine. This is mixed with a fruity, floral premium sake that leaves a lingering taste of bergamot tea.
The brand name, Sake Sling, draws its inspiration from the iconic Singapore Sling cocktail, first concocted in Singapore’s Raffles Hotel in 1915.
The Sake Sling cocktail range can be purchased from Amazon’s UK store immediately, and will be available through premium independent retailers in the near future. The Taster Pack, which includes one of each flavor, is priced at £7.50.
