Revolution in a Bottle: English Whisky Co. Unveils the Oldest English Whisky
The English Whisky Co. is proud to announce the debut of its most matured whisky yet – the oldest currently available in the English market.
The exquisite English Founders’ Private Cellar 16 Years Old Port Cask is a remarkable single malt, born in the Norfolk distillery back in August 2007. This exclusive single cask release, one of the first port casks filled by the company, hails from the private collection of the distillery’s late visionary founder, James Nelstrop.
Andrew Nelstrop, the current chairman of the English Whisky Co., hailed this release: “This sublime bottling is a testament to the exceptional whisky crafted at the English Distillery and honors the vision of our founder, who dreamt of creating world-class whisky in England.”
James Nelstrop, Andrew’s father, established the St George’s Distillery, now celebrated as the English Distillery, in 2006. It marked the return of dedicated whisky distillation to England after over a century. The distillery’s offerings have since included the renowned English range of single malts and the versatile Norfolk series, encompassing single malt, single grain, and flavored whiskies.
The English Founders Private Cellar 16 Years Old Port Cask, with an ABV of 54.1%, will be released on 30 November. It will be available at englishwhisky.co.uk and through select independent retailers. A global limited release, only 232 bottles are up for grabs, each priced at £295.
